Flores, who was born in Cuba, and now lives in Rhode Island and Nova Scotia, formed her assemblages from graceful sweeps of wood tied with bits of weathered twine. Most are based on a circle, the driftwood being tied into a wheel, as if Flores were creating a barrel rim as a metaphor for the circle of time.
